Durango | Switch Willo Stables | Austin, TX

Meet Durango, a 13-year-old gelding Kickapoo Pony. Durango is a dark bay medium-sized pony who lives at Switch Willo Stables in Austin, TX. Durango is ridden and leased by Natalie York who trains with Michelle Simmons and Kylie Wiggins at Switch Willo Stables in Austin, TX.

Natalie’s favorite memory of Durango was when the pair went to Katy and placed Reserve Champion. This was a special moment for Natalie because all of the pair’s hard work had paid off. After claiming their ribbons and prizes they got to go into the ring to take special award pictures. Do you remember your first exciting BIG win? The rush you felt? The sense of accomplishment and all your hard work pay off. This is how Natalie felt walking into the ring getting to take her pictures with Durango, proud.

Natalie’s trainer, Michelle Simmons, helped them find Durango. He is from Kickapoo Ponies and is a Kickapoo pony. Natalie has leased him for a little over a year now. Durango is described as a pleaser and a hard worker. He absolutely loves to do his job and is such an easy-going horse. Durango has made learning equitation so natural and fun for Natalie.

Durango loves treats, especially peppermints and apples. He has even been known to look in purses or bags for a few extra treats!

Natalie started with summer camp three years ago and fell in love with horses. Shortly after she started leasing Durango and has been leasing him for about a year and a half now. She shares that she loves showing Durango and working on all aspects of the show.
