DONATELLO | 9 YEAR OLD DUTCH WARMBLOOD | AUSTIN, TX
Donnie, Donatello, is a Dutch Warmblood Gelding. He trains with Kelly Lorek at Southern Way Farm in Austin, TX.
Donnie is a dappled grey horse with no markings, and he’s truly one-of-a-kind. He has a remarkable personality that draws people in – he’s never met a stranger! Donnie is incredibly friendly and sociable, with a warm and welcoming demeanor that puts everyone at ease. He’s not just good with people, though – Donnie is just as friendly with butterflies, birds, and other animals he encounters on his adventures.
He is also an incredibly eager-to-please horse and always strives to do the right thing, even if he’s not quite sure what that is. His desire to do what’s best for those around him is a true testament to his kind heart and gentle nature.
Mia, Donnie’s owner, has always had a love for horses, and she was on the lookout for a special one to add to her collection. That’s when she came across Donnie, who was imported from overseas just over a year ago. From the moment Mia met Donnie, she knew that he was something truly unique. As soon as he stepped off the trailer, Mia was completely enamored with Donnie’s charming personality and stunning looks. Mia knew that Donnie was the perfect horse for her, and the two have been inseparable ever since.
Donnie is a big fan of food, and he’s not shy about it! He’s always excited to see what tasty treats Mia has in store for him. While he’s not picky about his snacks, one of his absolute favorites is carrots. Donnie just can’t resist the sweet, crunchy goodness of a fresh carrot, and he’ll happily munch on them all day long if given the chance. Whether he’s out in the pasture or hanging out with his owner, Donnie always perks up at the sight of a juicy carrot – it’s definitely his go-to treat!
Mia has been riding horses since she was just 8 years old, and it’s been a passion of hers ever since. She can still vividly remember how she begged her parents to buy her a horse for years until she finally got her first one at the age of 12. As Mia has grown and matured, so has her love for horses. Now, having owned Donnie for over a year, Mia knows that her favorite part of horse ownership is building a deep, meaningful relationship with her four-legged friend. She loves getting to know Donnie’s unique quirks and personality traits and takes great pride in being recognized as his person. For Mia, the reward of connecting with a horse is far greater than any ribbon or award could ever be.
Mia has countless memories with Donnie, but it’s hard for her to pick just one favorite. Every moment she spends with him is special and cherished. Donnie’s eagerness to please and his kind-hearted nature never fail to amaze her. Mia loves spending time with Donnie, getting to know his spunky personality and unique quirks. Whether they’re going for a ride, playing in the pasture, or just hanging out, Mia and Donnie share a deep bond that is truly special. For Mia, every moment with Donnie is a favorite memory, and she looks forward to making many more in the future.
