Meet Dollar Cash, “Cash” who is a 13-year-old stunning Hanoverian. Cash is a giant bay gelding with a big white blaze running down his face and one white sock on his back leg. Cash’s sire is Dollar Du Murier and his dam is Chisby. He was born in Germany and then later imported to the US. Cash is ridden and owned by Olivia Brust with trains at TKO Sporthorses in Magnolia, TX with Trapp O’Neal and Hanley Morrison.
Cash is still fairly new to the Brust family and the pair have many memories yet to be made, but Olivia is confident that this guy already holds a very special place in her heart. Olivia’s favorite memory of Cash was the first day she officially tried Cash out. “He had 2 weeks off jumping while everyone was at WEF and despite being fresh and showing me some quirkiness, I felt so comfortable on him and already knew he was the one. I can’t wait to see where he takes me!”, says Olivia.
Cash was previously owned by Olivia’s trainer and professional rider, Trapp O’Neal. He was his Grand Prix horse. Olivia shares that when she moved to TKO at the end of December 2021, she took a lesson on Cash because she didn’t have a horse at the time. “I had a really good time with Cash”, says Olivia, and was even able to ride him many more times before they purchased him in January of 2022.
Cash has many quirks. His biggest one being traffic shy! So when other horses come up close behind him or straight toward him, he gets a little nervous. Olivia shares that he is much worse with ponies, which shocks her considering he towers over them 5 times over! But, he won’t get close to them in an arena! Oftentimes I wonder if the big guys are just confused as to what those “little” things are…they’re not dogs, they CLEARLY can’t be horses…what in the world are those fearless naughty creatures!?
The most interesting “treat” Cash has ever tried was a homemade biscuit that Olivia’s trainer, Hanley made. Although, he was very confused. Living the life of a Professional Grand Prix Horse, treats weren’t an everyday thing. Especially treats other than the normal carrot or apple, but he ended up eating them!
Trapp O’Neal and Dollar Cash have many accomplishments together winning multiple Grand Prix’s. Cash also jumped to win a 4-bar competition in which he cleared 1.85m! (That is 6.069ft!!) When Cash isn’t jumping the big jumper tracks he also doubles as an awesome International Derby horse!
Olivia shares that she wanted to be a cowgirl when she was a little girl! She quickly started taking lessons and made the switch to English about a year after she started riding…like most, she fell in love instantly and has been hooked ever since. She has been riding for about 14 years now and has had many casual ponies. She got her first show pony, “Avery” in 2012. She has been fortunate enough to have her horses right in her backyard at home with her. Despite all the hard work this requires of early morning feeding, cleaning stalls, and grooming, (the list is truly never-ending), it is ALLL worth it getting to see them in your backyard every single day! Waking up and going to bed seeing your horses out of your back window is what Olivia says is her absolute favorite thing about owning horses. And I second her on that one!
