Darby & Ty | Anniversary Portraits | Houston,TX

Darby & Ty were married just a couple of years ago, they decided that this year they wanted a wedding portrait re-do to celebrate. As most of you know, your wedding day is the most magical day of your life, but let’s be honest it is an insane day full of so many emotions and this sense of hurry to get everything done on time. When Darby approached me and said that she wanted to put back on her wedding dress and do portraits with Ty I was so incredibly excited.

I am so jealous of these portraits myself, mainly because I look nervous as heck, and Austin’s Men’s Warehouse Suit was like 5 sizes too big…I would give anything for a re-do of portrait myself, but alas that would mean I have to starve myself for a solid month and work out like I am training for the olympics and I am not sure I am that dedicated at this point.

Ok, enough about me.

I know Darby from College, we both went to Texas A&M and we crossed paths in what Animal Science majors called Kleburg High. Darby went on to Vet School, eventually fell in love with Ty, who is an amazing farrier, and then they made their way down to Magnolia where they live now. If these two look familiar, you have probably crossed paths with them somewhere in the horse world.

When Darby assigned me the task of, make Ty look good in photos, it made me laugh a lot, and spiraled back to my days photographing weddings. I learned from my years photographing weddings, that something about photos just makes most men cringe, especially on a wedding day. There is nothing worse than being stuck in a stuffy suit and taking a million photos with 100 of your closest friends and family peering in on you. I get it.

I have gotten to know Ty since he is our farrier, and fun fact, I actually find it so much harder photographing people I know than total strangers. If you have been around me while I am taking photos, you will know that I turn into quite a dork and have a bag full of terrible yet hilarious jokes that are certain to make you laugh at me, not at my jokes. Well, I don’t think Ty was quite prepared for the insanity that ensued during the portraits, but he did survive and I will go out on a limb and say that I think I completed Darby’s task.

I think Wedding Re-Do Portraits may be one of my new favorite sessions, now to find some Brides & Grooms that want to re-do their wedding portrait with their horses.
