Meet Dasiy, a 14-year-old Border Collie/ Australian Kelpie mix loved by Lauren, and the two reside in Flower Mound, TX at Homeward Farms.
Daisy is the one who keeps everyone in line at Homeward Farms. She is a loyal companion who has spent 13 years at Lauren’s side. She got Daisy from the College Station Animal Shelter. She had her DNA tested by Embark about a year ago. She is almost a 50/50 mix, which was interesting to Lauren because she thought she was a healer, but she isn’t!
Daisy often runs the perimeter of the arena during lessons making sure all of the horses are behaving. However, she’s quick to correct riders too. One of Lauren’s favorite traits of Daisy’s is that she will bark at a rider if they chip a distance in lessons!
When Lauren saw her at the shelter she wouldn’t stop barking and she looked so sad that she had to take her home. Home though was her dorm! So she snuck her in and they’ve been together ever since.
Did you know that the Australian Kelpie is a sheepdog? And the word “kelpie” is “water spirit” in Gaelic.
