Class De Light is an 11-year-old Oldenburg who resides in Austin, TX, and goes by CDL. He is owned and cared for by Isa. The dynamic duo trains at Madrone Ranch Stables with Rachel Lindsey.
CDL is a dark bay gelding with a white star and a snip on his nose. He is by Calato and out of Sheila. Isa met CDL on her birthday at her trainer’s request. He was with MTM Farm and she ended up trying him out at a horse show in November of 2020. By December he was hers.
Although they haven’t been training together long one of Isa’s favorite memories is their win at their first show, Frost Fire, in December 2020. The pair stepped straight into the high children’s jumpers and won two out of three classes that weekend. It was such an amazing show and really gave her confidence in her riding because they ended up being champions in their division at their first-ever show!
CDL has a laser focus in the ring. He and Isa are incredibly competitive and love jump-offs. However, outside of the ring, he can be a bit jumpy. From eyeing everything around the barn or showgrounds to being nervous about treat wrappers – he’s a bit goofy.
Isa got into horses because one of her really good family friends rode horses and her mom owned a barn. One day she went out to visit at the barn with her friend after a sleepover. She had never been in love with horses growing up but after visiting the barn and watching the girls jump she wanted to take lessons. She started taking lessons consistently when she was about 9 or 10 and has now been riding for about six years. Her favorite thing about owning horses is the connection that she can build with them. It is a true bond and unique from other sports!
Did you know horses can sleep laying down and standing up? If a horse lays down then you know they feel safe in that environment.
