Charming Boy O, “Tank”, is owned and adored by Kate who rides at Pine Hollow Farm in New Caney, TX with Will Roberts. Tank is a 9-year-old grey gelding Westphalian whose sire is Colbert GTI and dam is Alischa. Tank was bred and born in Germany.
Kate shares her favorite memory thus far with Tank was going to Aiken, SC last fall for the pair’s first out-of-state horse show. They were incredible, showing that all the hard work at home really does in did pay off, and better yet, had a blast! It was one of their favorite shows yet and can’t wait to go back!
Kate got Tank in September 2020. “When I went to try him I just remember thinking he seemed like such a gentle giant. He’s like a puppy dog and he loves his carrots. As soon as he sees me walking down the barn aisle, he is always rushing to greet me. He loves having “his person”, shares Kate.
Tank eats anything but he especially loves his carrots and apples!
“I grew up riding jumpers and had a few horses of my own. After college, I stopped and my husband was stationed in Hawaii at Pearl Harbor. After living in Oahu for 9 years we moved back to Kingwood, TX where we grew up. We now have two young girls. My oldest was invited to a barn to ride and I thought “hey I want to take a few lessons again for old times’ sake” and the rest is history. I bought Tank 2 months later! My favorite thing about riding as an adult is not only that I have my own hobby again but the “getaway” going to the barn and riding provides in our crazy busy lives.” Kate has now passed down her love of horses to her two young girls, Lily and Lyla. Lily has a pony of her own and is enjoying riding lessons at Pine Hollow Farm with both Will Roberts and assistant trainer, Morgan Van Nortwick.
Since we photographed Kate’s horse at Pin Oak 2022, Kate is now training at Bedoya Training Stables in Magnolia, TX.
