CHAMPIONS LEAGUE | 10 YEARS OLD WESTPHALEN GELDING | HUDSON OAKS, TX

Ziti, Champions League, is a Westphalen Gelding. He is stabled at the Heineking Show Stables/October Hill Farm in Hudson Oaks, TX.

Ziti stands out for his affectionate and happy personality, particularly his love for ear scratches. Although he can be challenging to lead due to his excitement, Ziti’s only quirk is his dislike of having his face clipped.

Maddee’s trainer imported Ziti, the “most perfect boy in the whole wide world,” from Germany in October 2021. Although Maddee was convinced another person would purchase him after trying him, her father surprised her the next day by announcing that Ziti was officially theirs, leading to an emotional moment of joy.

This cuddly horse has an indiscriminate palate and enjoys all kinds of treats. However, he has a special fondness for carrots and apples.

Ziti has accomplished impressive victories, including winning the Fort Worth Grand Prix twice in a row with Nico Gamboa while Maddie was recovering from her knee surgery. Additionally, Ziti placed 4th in the 2nd Grand Prix at Traverse City in August 2022, also with Nico.

Growing up in Colorado, Maddee’s passion for riding was ignited when her mom shared stories about riding her neighbor’s appaloosa bareback in their backyard. Maddee started taking lessons at a local barn and progressed from pony divisions to jumpers.

“My favorite memory is my first ride back after my knee injury. In July 2022 at Lamplight (Chicago), I was cleared by my doctor to sit on a horse again after tearing my ACL in March. I was only allowed to walk and do the tiniest bit of trot, but of course, I wanted my first ride back to be on my noodle boy. He took the best care of me and continued to be the most forgiving horse as I figured out how to ride again.”
