Cassiopeia Cellestin | “Tino” | Manor Equestrian Center

Tino is known as Cassiopeia Cellestin in the show ring. This actually the second time Tino has been photographed by me. Just a few years ago we did Black Background Portraits of Tino when he and his former owner Ellie were showing at Great Southwest Equestrian Center. Now Tino is shown and loved by Grace.

Horses are sometimes sold to new owners when their current owners outgrow them or move up to jump bigger things. Then the horses get to teach and help their new owners learn and grow to be better riders.

Tino is a 12-year-old Danish Warmblood. Grace and Tino train with Lacy Hudson at Manor Equestrian Center. The pair show in the 3’6″ Juniors and the Derbies. You will notice that a lot of times you will see Hunter horses in these fancy little braids. While at the horse shows these horses are oftentimes braided each day before they show. Hunter horses are known for their beautiful long necks, and braiding their manes helps to accentuate their necks.

Grace shares that one of her favorite things about riding is that she gets to see all of her friends and their horses each weekend when they go to shows. She started riding during summer camp at a barn in Austin and has been hooked ever since. I can almost promise you that her Mom probably had no idea what one summer at riding camp would turn into, like most unsuspecting horse moms.

Grace actually knew Tino and had watched him and his former owner Ellie show for years before she got him. Her favorite memory was seeing him step off the trailer at the barn and realizing that he was actually hers.

Grace shares, “Tino is a very funny guy and is very high maintenance. He has to have an A/C unit or he gets too hot and he has to constantly be bathed because he gets so dirty.”

Her favorite thing about him is his attitude in the show ring, he so is willing and always makes sure to take care of her and make sure she has fun.

“I got Tino at Pin Oak 2021 after my previous junior hunter had gotten injured. It was such a surprise because I’ve watched Tino show for years and had fallen in love with him and I couldn’t believe I’d actually get to ride and show this horse. This summer we went to junior hunter finals which have been a long-term goal of mine and Tino. It was incredible.”

Did you know at one time people thought that horses were color blind? They’re not, though they are better at seeing yellows and greens than purples and violets.
