CASSANO | 11 YEAR OLD WESTPHALIAN | AUSTIN, TX
Oscar, Cassano, is a grey 11-year-old Westphalian Gelding. Oscar was imported from Germany. He lives and trains at the Madrone Ranch Stables in Austin, Texas.
Oscar is quite the character with his unique quirks! One of his favorite things to do after every ride is to have a nice long yawn as if he’s sighing with contentment. He also loves to play with his stall toys, keeping himself entertained and stimulated even when he’s not out riding. Despite his playful nature, Oscar is a diligent worker when it comes to his training, always eager to please his rider and improve his skills.
Chloe, Oscar’s owner, met Oscar while attending a show in Tryon almost a year ago. She had been searching for the perfect horse for some time and had tried out several different options that week. However, it wasn’t until she rode Oscar that she knew he was the one. As she rode him, she felt an immediate connection and was able to jump 3ft for the first time with ease. It was clear that Oscar was the perfect fit for Chloe, and she has been happily owning him ever since.
When it comes to treats, Oscar has quite a discerning taste. While he enjoys the occasional carrot or apple, his absolute favorite treats are the ones he gets from those fancy Instagram boutiques. Even though they can be a bit overpriced, Oscar can’t resist their unique flavors and the way they make him feel like a truly pampered pet. Chloe loves spoiling him with these special treats, knowing that they bring him so much joy. Whenever Oscar sees the shiny package comes out, he can’t help but get excited and wag his tail in anticipation of the deliciousness that awaits him.
Oscar is one impressive horse with a long list of accomplishments to his name. With his previous owners, he has ribboned numerous derbies at the prestigious Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), demonstrating his exceptional jumping abilities and impressive athleticism. But that’s not all – Oscar is also a top contender in the hack, consistently placing in competitions and showcasing his elegant movements and impeccable form. His natural talent and hard work have earned him a well-deserved reputation as a skilled and versatile horse.
Chloe’s passion for horseback riding started around six years ago. Even though she has taken breaks from it a few times, she always finds her way back to horses. There’s just something about the bond between horse and rider that draws her in, and she can’t resist the thrill of jumping over obstacles and feeling the wind in her hair as she gallops across the arena. Every time she gets back on a horse, she remembers why she fell in love with riding in the first place. It’s not just a sport to her, it’s a way of life.
Chloe has many special memories with Oscar, but her favorite one is undoubtedly the day he came home to her. As her first horse, Oscar holds a special place in her heart, and she had been dreaming of owning a horse like him since she was in fourth grade. When she finally brought him home, it was like a dream come true. She remembers feeling overwhelmed with excitement and emotion as she introduced Oscar to his new home and spent time getting to know him. For Chloe, that day represents the beginning of a new chapter in her life, one where she finally had her own “unicorn” to love and care for. It’s a memory she will cherish forever.
