BLITZ | 14 YEAR OLD WELSH SMALL PONY | HOUSTON, TX
Blitz is a 14 year old Welsh small pony gelding. He is a beautiful palomino pony with a star and stripe marking, and socks on both of his back hind legs. Blitz is owned, ridden, and loved by Ellie Wexler and the pair train at Pine Hollow Farm in New Caney, TX.
Ellie has owned Blitz for two years now after finding him in Michigan. Blitz, in addition to being a stunning little pony, is also very easy going. He is always ready to start a new lesson and is always happy to see Ellie when she comes out to the barn. He is very funny when getting tacked up and “smiles”, which amuses everyone who watches. Blitz is a big fan of peppermints but he also loves when he gets a special little treat…gingerbread cookies!
Blitz has accomplished so much in the past two years with Ellie! He won Texas Pony Championships, was third place for Zone Horse of the Year, got thirteenth in the flat for the small green ponies at Pony Finals, and won the Zone Seven Finals for the small greens. The pair was also recently Champion in the Small Pony Hunters at the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show as well as 2nd in the Pony Hunter Classic.
At just three years old, Ellie fell in love with horses after going on her first pony ride. Now, she has been riding for eight years and is very accomplished in the pony ring. Ellie says that her favorite part about riding is how there is always something new to learn. She loves being challenged and seeing what each ride will teach her next and Blitz’s easy going nature allows her to continue learning and have fun while doing it!
Ellie’s favorite memory with Blitz is, “Going to Pony Finals for the first time. We were in a class of 66, and I was really nervous. When I saw Blitz coming, he looked calm and it calmed me. We ended up getting 13th in the flat (small green u/s). That was the best moment of my life.”

Portraits for Charity was an idea Karinda dreamt up to help give back to families impacted by Childhood Cancer in memory of her husband’s sister Jessica. With the help of the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show family, Karinda has raised over $30,000 for Candlelighter’s Houston since starting this project.
