Seevers has certainly come into his own personality the longer the two of them have known each other. He is quite expressive and tends to showcase his own humor. Ashleigh thinks that if he could be a “lap” horse his life would be complete! They do dressage. Her favorite thing about him is his willingness to try and learn. “I know that our bond is special and he trusts me, but to have him go so easily into a new disciple was astonishing.”

I love the Seever’s name is so incredibly special, “A dear friend of mine whom Seevers is named after connected us after his original owner passed away. After the owner passed all the horses located at the barn endured some neglect and abuse and since she knew my passion for horses we became involved to help. The first time I met him I spent 2 hours grooming him in his stall and just loving on him. My friend wanted to get a picture of us just as a memory and he wrapped me in a hug with his neck and I knew then I was in trouble. I went to auction for him and I don’t think I’ve ever been more nervous than that day. My best friend had to bid for me on him because I was shaking and I was so happy when the auctioneer called our number for sold.”

The one word she chose to describe him is healing. His favorite snacks are Mrs. Pastures cookies.

Ashleigh has been into horses for as long as she can remember but didn’t start riding until age 11. Seevers is the first horse that she has owned. She has now owned him for just over 2 years. “My favorite thing is our bond it’s been incredible the healing he’s brought to my life and the peace I’ve tried to bring to his. He’s well worth the wait and certainly one of a kind.”

Her favorite memory of Seevers is the first time that she rode him. “My dear friend who is our trimmer was out with us in case anything went wrong. We talked him up and I wanted to lunge him to see how he went with tack on. Well we quickly learned this was not my strength and I let her lunge him as she had much more experience. Well in typical seevers fashion he complied for a short time, widening the circle with each round. When he finally had enough rope he threw himself behind these large oil barrels that were in the corner against the fence. He had an expression of “what now??? I don’t want to play your games so what are you going to to do?” He was quite proud of his mischievous placement! We went on to have an amazing ride and millions more memories but this was the first time he let his personality shine and felt safe enough to play and have fun! “
