Austin Equine Photographer | Rikki the Sorrel
Rikki, Miss Regal Ricochet, is a Sorrel Quarter Horse Mare. Rikki is owned by one of my best friends from Texas A&M, Rebecca, and currently lives in Spicewood,TX.
Rikki holds a special place in my heart, while we were in college Rikki and my horse Lucy were buddies. While at Texas A&M Rebecca and I participated in the Horsemanship program, we kept our horses together at Freeman arena and would turn the out together. I sill remember when Rebecca first told me about Rikki. Her dad’s friend owned her, and Rebecca went to ride her at his property. They rode on the trails, and although Rikki was green at the time, Rebecca fell in love. She brought her home that same day. Although Rebecca thought she was crazy because Rikki didn’t know much, I think it’s safe to say that she made a good decision.
Rikki is quite a special girl. I love her so incredibly much, just like she is my own. This little quirky girl’s bottom lip hangs down, and some days it hangs down more than others. She is super kind and always wants to please. She is also very smart and laid back. I can attest to this, one time while visiting Rebecca we took Rikki and another horse to go trail riding. I rode Rikki and she was such a good girl. It had been a while since I had ridden, after breeding my mare. Rikki toted around my english riding self on the trails like a pro. Even when we realized that it was getting dark quickly, and ended up having to run back through the trails just before the sun went down. I can honestly say that some of the best times of my life with one of my best friends have been had with this horse.
Since this is a little special blog post I am including an old picture of Lucy and Rikki.
Beautiful pictures!
