ALABAMA | 17 YEAR OLD KWPN | CYPRESS, TX
Bama, Alabama, is a Dutch Warmblood Gelding. His sire is Triomphe and his dam is Nicolita. He was bred in Germany. He is trained by Nada Wise at Rendezvous Farm in Cypress, TX.
Bama, the friendly horse, is a flea-bitten grey with pink nostrils that make him stand out in the crowd. But what really sets him apart is his love for hugs! After almost every ride, Bama seeks a warm embrace from his rider. As soon as they hop off, he’ll look up at them and put his head down, patiently waiting for them to hold him close and give him some well-deserved pats. It’s a heartwarming sight and one that is sure to melt anyone’s heart. Perhaps Bama knows the way to his rider’s heart is through their stomach, as his endearing behavior often results in extra treats for him.
Catie, Bama’s owner, has a heartwarming story of how she found her beloved horse. She discovered Bama in her home state of Louisiana, even though he was bigger than what she was originally looking for. However, their connection was immediate, and Catie knew that Bama was the one for her. Bama arrived at a time when Catie’s riding was at its lowest, and he has since given her a renewed sense of confidence. Catie now enjoys riding more than ever, thanks to Bama’s constant presence and unwavering support. It’s clear that Catie and Bama were meant to be together, and their bond is a true testament to the special relationship between horse and rider.
This lovable horse has a simple and healthy favorite treat – carrots! Despite the availability of a wide variety of treats, Bama’s preference for carrots remains constant. His love for these orange root vegetables is unwavering, and he eagerly crunches on them whenever he gets a chance. Although some might consider carrots to be a boring choice, Bama clearly knows what he likes, and he’s not afraid to show it.
Bama may not have any specific accomplishments to his name, but he has a steady history of being in the ribbons. He consistently performs well in competitions, impressing judges with his grace, skill, and impressive showmanship. While Bama may not have won any major awards, his consistent performance in various events is a testament to his exceptional abilities and the hard work of his dedicated owner, Catie. Whether he’s competing in jumping or dressage events, Bama always gives it his all and never fails to impress.
Catie’s love for horses has been a lifelong passion, one that began at an early age. She remembers being horse-obsessed for as long as she can recall. It was this love that ultimately led her to become a real estate attorney, as she noticed that all the lawyers at the barn had nice horses, and she wanted the same. Fortunately, Catie found that she enjoyed her job as a lawyer, but it was the bond she developed with her horses that really kept her going. For Catie, the relationship she forms with her horses is the best part of owning them. Riding is just a bonus, as there’s nothing quite like the feeling of a happy horse that’s excited to see you.
Catie’s favorite memory with Bama is a special one that involved their first time showing at WEC. It was their first “big” show together, and the venue was truly impressive. Catie admits to feeling a little intimidated by the whole experience, but Bama was as calm and collected as ever. He jumped around the course with ease, making it seem like he had been there countless times before. Throughout the show, Bama took great care of Catie, giving her the confidence she needed to succeed. The experience was truly memorable, and Catie will always treasure the bond she shared with Bama during that show. It’s clear that their partnership is a special one, filled with mutual trust, respect, and admiration.
