Blue, Kido Blue Van’t Achterhof , is a Belgian Warmblood gelding. His sire is Zirocco Blue VDL, his dam is Widia. He was bred by Wouter Aernouts in Belgium.
Standing 17.3, Blue is tall, dark, and handsome with a people-loving personality. Elizabeth found Blue about 18 months ago, he had just been imported and was sent to Tyler for her to try him out. Which went something like this:
“From the first moment I got on him, I knew that he was the horse I’d been looking for. One funny moment from my first ride on him happened when I tried jumping him. I aimed at a small oxer and missed my distance really badly. Blue should have stopped because the distance was so bad, but instead, he launched into the air and nearly jumped over the top of the standards. My trainer started laughing really hard and I nearly fell off. I knew right then that Blue was incredibly honest and had plenty of scope to be an amazing jumper!”
Blue and Elizabeth have had several memorable moments since she pointed him at that first oxer. One of her favorites was going to Maclay finals 2020 and putting in a great round on Blue. She wanted to go to Maclay finals for years and was finally able to go last year. It was both her and Blue’s first time there. The course was really hard but Blue didn’t bat an eye at anything and marched around the course like he’d been doing the equitation for years! They finished 30th out of 267 competitors and it was the best finals experience she could have hoped for.
