Last year I photographed Jessica’s Horses at her home in Magnolia,TX. It was so amazing getting to photograph these three horses and create this beautiful black background portrait of these three ponies. I feel like I have been able to watch Jessica’s journey as an equestrian from the very beginning. I remember that first day she showed up at Windy Knoll Farm to start taking lessons. Her adventures with Odin, her very first horse who I might add had his own social media for a while. Then came Rusty the trusty pony, and finally Miss Lucca, dressage horse extraordinaire. Getting to see Jessica’s journey and watch her adore and celebrate each of these three ponies as she grew into her life as a crazy horse lady has been so much fun, and getting to photograph these three ponies was so fun. From my description can you guess who is who?
Lucca is a Danish Warmblood Mare. Her sire is Richman and dam is Licata.
One of the most incredible things Jessica has experienced owning Lucca is seeing just how much Lucca has matured in the 2 short years she has owned her. Lucca has learned to be a kind, loving, and extraordinarily sweet horse that Jessica oh-so adores. Lucca isn’t shy to let you know how she is feeling either! She squeaks like a guinea pig when she gets upset or excited! She has a free-spirited personality and a kind heart.
Lucca lives with two other horses at the barn, Rusty and Odin. Rusty is a 16-year-old American Quarter Horse who is a sweet and steady guy. He also loves a good trail ride! And Odin, who is a 16-year-old Draft Cross (Percheron/ Morgan Cross). Odin is retired from a great life of hard work, and he too still lives for wonderful trail rides with his fellow horse buddies.
