Cheers | Westphalian | Pine Hollow Farm

Pony, Cheers, is a Westphalian Gelding. His sire is Quite Calido and his dam is Pro Polly.

At the time of our portrait session, Pony was owned and ridden by Meg who trains with Will Roberts at Pine Hollow Farm in Houston, TX. Meg has since sold Pony to a wonderful lady named Krista and he is living his best life in North Carolina.

One of Meg’s favorite memories of Pony is when the pair were at WEF last year and he had taught himself how to open up everyone’s tack trunks (even when they were latched!) to help himself to treats! “It was too cute and he always got away with it even though he was being naughty! Pony is very sassy and very smart.” Meg shared

Pony is extremely confident and doesn’t think he needs to practice at all – he was a total stinker at home (refusing to go forward, would be REALLY wild, etc.) but he loved showing off how fantastic he was at horse shows. He is so athletic and truly talented. Even though he is spunky and naughty all of the time, I can always count on him to help me out when it counts!

Was it love at first sight? You could say so! Will found him for Meg at Capital Challenge in 2019. Meg and her trainer, Will, went to the schooling area to try a different horse, but as soon as she saw him trot around she was memorized with his handsome looks. They asked Sam Schaefer (who we bought Pony from) if I could ride him – the rest was history.

Did you know that a grey horse can be born in any color?
