I don’t even know where to start with Maddison’s Senior Portraits. Maddison received the gift certificate that I donated to the NTHJC Banquet this year, and it just so happens that she is a senior and will be graduating in 2020 so this was the perfect opportunity to do senior portraits with her horse Duncan that she leases from her trainer.
I had so much fun photographing Maddison & Duncan and her dad even jumped in for a few pictures with her. Although, I think my favorite part of the session was the dress I brought along. I have quite a few dresses in my client closet that my clients are welcome to use for their portraits, and just a few days before Maddison’s portraits I had acquired a few new dresses from Couture House in the Woodlands. I was absolutely dying to photograph them so I brought a couple of options along that I thought Maddison would love, and of course, she fell in love with my favorite and she put it on and we headed out to the field for some photos. Can I just say, this dress is so amazingly epic, and was the perfect way to end the session.
Maddison rides with Angela Bollinger of Oak View Equestrian in Terrell,TX. Maddison has ridden with Angela for almost her entire life, so I am sure that these photos were a little bittersweet for Angela too! I can’t even imagine what it is like for trainers that invest so much of their hearts into little girls who have a love for ponies, and one day they get to watch them go off to college and blossom into adults.
Maddison rides After Hours, who they call Duncan around the barn. Duncan is a 13 year old Thoroughbred, who has quite the personality. It is easy to see why Maddison loves him so much. One of Maddison’s favorite memories is taking Duncan down to the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show in Katy to show, I completely understand how this tops the list of her favorite memories, as Pin Oak is such a fun show..but she also admits that each and every time she rides him is so special that it is hard to pick just one favorite memory.
Maddison shares that she, “Loves his personality, he is so funny about the things he likes and doesn’t like. He loves Stud Muffins, and drinking from the hose.” The pair has competed at many shows both local shows and all the way up to Pin Oak. They finished reserve last year, took champion at many local shows including the Frostbite Series, and they have even placed in Derbies together.
