Vino is a 17 year old Warmblood Gelding who lives at Summer Hill Farms in Flowermound, TX. The team trains with Jordan Gilchrist and Laura Hightower. Vino has such a sweet heart and amusing personality. He is a really kind and talented, yet sassy horse. His favorite itchy spot is on the front of his shoulder, he likes all treats except bananas, and he also likes to drink out of the hose. He has been such a wonderful teacher and an incredible horse to learn on!
Avery just finished up her lease with the handsome bay this past July and it was so enjoyable for her. She explains, “He is a very honest horse and has been almost as good of a teacher as my two trainers. For example, he squeals at me if I ask for a transition too harshly with my spurs or if I don’t hold myself over a jump well, he will hop and buck me off. If he has given me too many chances to do something correctly, he certainly lets me know it! Despite him having such high standards, Vino has been so forgiving and marvelous to learn on!”
Though the pair had only worked together for a short time, they have accomplished so much in their year of working together. One of which has been Avery going to her first A shows with him to strengthen her skills for collegiate riding. She showed 2′ with Vino this last year with the goal of preparing her for a college IHSA team! As we all can relate, showing is fun but at the end of the day we cherish those memories made at home too…
“I had sooo much fun doing my first A shows with him, but I think my most memorable experiences with Vino were at home and spending so much time with him despite only having a year to get to know each other.”- Avery
