Texas Equine Photographer | Kyle the Hanoverian Thoroughbred
Kyle, Dubonnet, is a Hanoverian/Thoroughbred Gelding. His sire is Duellglanz, his dam is Step Lightly. He was bred by Angela Barilar at High Point Hanoverians in Chestertown, Maryland.
Kyle lives at Esperanza farms and trains with Janine Mendez. He is a 21 year old, 16.2 hand, Hanoverian/Thoroughbred Bay Gelding with a crescent shaped star. Kyle is the grumpy horse in the barn, but it is all an act. The second he hears Emma, his owner’s voice or sees food he perks up. Everyday when she gets to the barn and calls him in, he walks right up from the pasture to her because he really loves and craves attention. Even though he tries to act tough, he is one of the sweetest horses in the barn and really takes care of his rider. Although he is an old man, he sure doesn’t look or act like one!
I am so incredibly excited to share this session, and even more excited for Emma & Kyle’s upcoming Horse & Rider Portrait Session blog post that will be up this month as well!! While in Helotes I also had the privilege of photographing this Horse & Rider pair for a Horse & Rider Portrait session, as a part of Emma’s Birthday Present! How awesome is that?! I think it ranks up there as a day that every horse loving girl would be envious of. The day was complete with hair and makeup, lots of laughs, fancy dresses, and a whole group of barn friends enjoying the evening.
Emma says Kyle is “priceless” and really loves peppermints, salt and vinegar chips, frozen limeade Popsicle’s, and blue raspberry poptarts. Kyle has won every event that he and Emma have competed in. He won all three eventing shows, receiving the USEA Blue Ribbon Award and the CTEA Beginner Novice Champion Horse and Rider. At his very first dressage show, he won both of his tests and got grand champion, and at their most recent Dressage show, he won 3 out of the 4 tests they rode in. He was also ranked the 8th horse in the US for Beginner Novice Eventing with Emma.
