CASHMERE | 10-YEAR-OLD MECKLENBURG | WYLIE, TX

Meet Cashmere, the 10-year-old Mecklenburg known for his striking grey coat with dapples on his knees and a cute pink nose. Cashmere is a standout at North Texas Equestrian Center, where he is adored and ridden by Talia Wirth-Holmes. You can follow their adventures on Instagram.

Talia shares her favorite memory with Cashmere: “My favorite memory would be him taking me over my first 1.80m oxer. I had only owned him for about 3 months, and it was our first time doing gymnastics. My trainer put it up to 1.80m, and I was so nervous, but Cashmere jumped it like it was nothing. And that was my first real time flying with him.”

Cashmere’s journey to Talia was a unique one. “I found him when I was 10 and looking for a horse, but we ended up not buying him because he was 4. Then 4 years later, he came back to the barn I ride at, and we were looking for a horse at that time, and it just fell perfectly together, so we bought him,” Talia explains.

Cashmere is a 10-year-old Mecklenburg, and his father is Calido 1, an international show jumper. Cashmere’s personality is a delightful mix of a cute, cuddly puppy dog and a laid-back surfer who just wants to lay out in the sun. “He thrives off of love and affection and becomes easily offended if you do not greet him with a cookie and a kiss. Cashmere loves to be pampered. His name is very fitting for his personality. Nothing but the best for Cashmere,” Talia says.

His favorite treat is bananas, which he thoroughly enjoys. Cashmere received multiple “Horse of the Year” awards when he was younger and recently finished as the reserve champion in first level dressage for the 2023 show year. “Cashmere is a jack of all trades,” Talia proudly states.

Talia’s passion for riding began when she was five years old. “It all began one summer when I went to my grandpa’s farm in Germany. Once he put me on a pony, I knew I was going to grow up in the saddle. I was hooked!” she recalls.

Talia and Cashmere are looking forward to many more memorable moments and achievements together at North Texas Equestrian Center.
