ACTION MAN | 12 YEAR OLD DUTCH WARMBLOOD | ONALASKA, TX
Winston, Action Man, is a 12 year old Dutch Warmblood whose Sire is Action Breaker and his Dam’s Sire is Quidam De Revel. If you look up a picture of Winston’s great grandfather, they actually look identical! While the breeder information is unknown, Winston was imported by Rob Chapman. Winston is owned by Jillian Adams and is currently leased by Sammie Frasier at Blackjack Lane in Mont Belvieu, TX.
Winston is a bay gelding with a big white blaze on his face and two socks on his legs. He is currently leased out while Jillian is at college but before that, the pair was at Hennessy Equine. Winston is a goofy horse and Jillian says, “One of his special traits is that Sammie Frazier taught him how to smile! This one makes me laugh every single time he does it!” He also loves all kinds of treats but has two favorites: Red Twizzlers and the icing off of a pink doughnut!
Jillian’s trainer Elizabeth Daugherty had a close relationship with Rob Chapman, who imported horses and was the one to import Winston when he was 3 years old. Her trainer continued to watch Winston grow and learn over the years following his arrival, and when the time came for Jillian to look for her first jumper, he was at the top of the list! Jillian has now owned him for over six years and says it has been quite the journey, but she is so glad he is with Sammie while she is in college because he has been so well loved by her the past two years.
Winston’s list of awards and accomplishments are no small feat! He was the Texas Hunter Jumper Association – Grand Champion High Children Jumper 2021, US Hunter Jumper Association –High Children Jumper Reserve Champion in Central Region 2021, and Greater Houston Hunter Jumpers Association – Junior Adult Reserve Champion 2020, as well as many other top ribbons during his career with both Jillian and Sammie. A personal accomplishment that Jillian wanted to include was that, “He (Winston) has always been terrified of the Liverpool, and he has now conquered the scary blue thing!”.
Jillian’s mom has known her first trainer since before she was even born. When Jillian was diagnosed with dyslexia in the second or third grade, her mom was looking for fun activities for her to do that encouraged right and left brain movement and one of those activities happened to be riding horses. Her mom then reached out to her friend about riding lessons and got her in right away and Jillian never looked back! She fell in love with horses and has been riding ever since. One of her favorite things about owning a horse is being able to go outside and enjoy the company of your horse and bond with them.
Jillian’s favorite memory with Winston is, “When I first got Winston, he was five years old and he had this habit of not wanting to be caught in his pasture. I distinctly remember one day he just watched me grab his halter from the barn, and he came running up to the fence. I just felt so happy and loved because we finally started to bond and trust each other. Ever since then, you can walk in the pasture and he will follow you around like a big puppy dog.” She also recalls another memory that is a testament to the trust Winston has in her because he let her, “wear a big red cape to monster mash in October 2021. We dressed up as Superman and flew around in the arena! I had so much fun with him that day. It put so many smiles on everyone’s faces, including a big one on mine!”
