Tempest Rising | Thoroughbred Mare | Sebrook, TX

TEMPEST RISING | 12 YEAR-OLD THOROUGHBRED | SEABROOK, TX

Tempest, Tempest Rising, is a Thoroughbred Mare. She is trained by Tracey Forsythe at the Seabreeze Farm.

Tempest, the bay horse with a white star, white snip, and a left hind sock, has a bundle of unique traits. Besides her striking appearance, she has a particular love for ear scratches, constantly seeking the joy of a brush running up and down the inner part of her ears.

Hannah, at the young age of 17, was facing the bittersweet task of selling a horse she had outgrown. In her search for a new equine companion within her limited budget, fate intervened when she stumbled upon a Facebook post featuring a breathtaking bay mare priced under $2000.00. Money was tight at the time, with Hannah still in high school and her parents supporting her horse’s board. Curiosity piqued, she arranged a meeting and took the mare for a test ride. Though the mare had only experienced two rides since her track days, Hannah sensed an immediate connection as they trotted around the arena and gracefully cleared a few poles. The mare’s refusal to be chased in the field revealed a spirited independence, accompanied by the most captivating and expressive trot Hannah had ever witnessed. Determined, Hannah waited until her other horse found a new home before proceeding with a pre-purchase exam. Without a doubt, she decided to bring the mare into her life, and throughout the years, their bond grew stronger, solidifying the mare’s place as Hannah’s beloved heart horse.

Tempest’s enthusiasm for treats is unrivaled, as she won’t hesitate to make her presence known if she spots you with treats for other horses before receiving her share. With her endearing quirks, Tempest surely knows how to make her presence felt and capture the hearts of those around her. Tempest finds joy in a wide array of treats. From crunchy apples to crunchy carrots, Tempest’s taste buds relish the natural sweetness and satisfying crunch of these wholesome snacks. Tempest’s enthusiasm for treats goes beyond the usual favorites, as they happily indulge in a variety of goodies. However, one thing that doesn’t quite tickle their fancy is sugar cubes. Tempest prefers to keep their snacks on the healthier side, savoring the flavors of nature’s bounty rather than indulging in sugary confections. And while they have an adventurous spirit when it comes to treats, you won’t catch Tempest munching on potato chips either. With a discerning palate and a love for nutritious treats, Tempest knows how to enjoy the finer things in life.

This resilient and determined horse achieved a significant milestone by participating in their first A-rated show at Pin Oak. It was a remarkable moment for both Tempest and Hannah, filled with pride, joy, and excitement. After overcoming past injuries, Tempest’s journey to recovery was not an easy one. However, the pair’s unwavering spirit and dedication led them to this momentous occasion. With each stride taken in the show ring, Tempest showcased her talent, grace, and indomitable spirit that sets them apart.

Hannah’s lifelong love affair with horse riding began at the tender age of 4, shaping her journey into a passionate equestrian. Surrounded by the grace and majesty of these magnificent creatures from an early age, Hannah’s parents played a vital role in nurturing her enthusiasm. Guided by an exceptional trainer, she embarked on a diverse path within the horse industry, exploring disciplines such as Hunter/Jumpers, eventing, and immersing herself in the art of dressage. One remarkable chapter in her equestrian adventure involved restarting a thoroughbred from the track, offering the horse a fresh start under her dedicated care. Beyond the thrill of riding, Hannah finds solace in the simple joys of observing her horses graze peacefully while she immerses herself in the pages of a good book. For Hannah, horses embody not just a means of riding, but a boundless source of beauty and wonder that enriches her life in countless ways.

Hannah cherishes a favorite memory with Tempest that reflects the deep bond they share and the incredible journey they’ve undertaken together. Their story is one of resilience and triumph over adversity. Tempest has faced significant challenges, from colic surgery as a young horse to a complete suspensory ligament tear on her left hind. Yet, with Hannah’s unwavering dedication and the mare’s indomitable spirit, they defied the odds and made a remarkable comeback. The memory that stands out to Hannah is their participation in the 1.0-meter classes at Pin Oak, where they showcased their skills among a formidable group of riders. Despite the fierce competition, they placed 2nd and 4th on multiple occasions, which is a testament to their hard work and determination. This memory symbolizes the resilience, perseverance, and unbreakable bond between Hannah and Tempest, reminding them of their ability to overcome challenges and reach new heights together.
