ZULU | 1 YEAR-OLD AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD | COVINGTON, LA
Zulu is a lovable one-year-old Australian Shepherd with a unique personality. As a black tri-colored pup, she’s a real head-turner! What sets her apart is her unpredictable energy level that goes from 0 to 100 in a flash. However, she knows when it’s time to work and manages to keep her craziness under control. She’s a pro at pretending to be calm and collected, and she takes her work seriously as a good dog should.
Stephanie, Zulu’s owner, had an unexpected surprise when Zulu came into her life. In 2021, Stephanie and her mom had a litter of puppies, and Zulu was one of them. Stephanie had planned to take Zulu on the road to find her own forever home, but things didn’t go as planned. Zulu didn’t seem to like small children, which made it challenging to find her the right family. Stephanie’s other dog, Gizmo, became enamored with Zulu and insisted they keep her. Although Zulu’s energy can drive Gizmo crazy at times, Stephanie reminds her that it’s her problem since she wanted a puppy in the first place. Despite the unexpected turn of events, Stephanie is thrilled to have Zulu as a beloved member of her family.
Stephanie has many fond memories of her energetic Australian Shepherd, Zulu, but one stands out as her favorite. It was at a horse show where Zulu had escaped from her pen and made a beeline for another dog she wanted to play with. Stephanie vividly remembers Zulu’s athleticism as she leaped over obstacles and dodged through crowds with a singular determination to reach her dog friend. When she finally made it, Stephanie was struck by the pure joy on Zulu’s face as she romped and played with her furry companion. It was a moment that perfectly captured Zulu’s love of life and the happiness she brings to those around her.

Portraits for Charity was an idea Karinda dreamt up to help give back to families impacted by Childhood Cancer in memory of her husband’s sister Jessica. During the 2023 Pin Oak Charity Horse Show Karinda photographed around 150 Horses and Dogs and was able to donate just under $15,000 to Candlelighter’s Houston.
