EMPRESS JOSEPHINE | CARENCO, LA

In the enchanting world of horses, there are some that stand out from the rest. One such equine marvel is Josie, a beloved horse owned by Brooke Miller, the esteemed trainer of Amélie. When Amélie’s quest for a horse began, Brooke graciously offered Josie as a lease for her first-rated shows. The plan was to find Amélie her own horse while she gained valuable experience with Josie. However, destiny had other plans. It didn’t take long for everyone to realize that Josie and Amélie were a match made in equestrian heaven. Their connection was so profound that the search for another horse came to an abrupt halt.

Josie possesses an array of remarkable characteristics that make her an ideal equine partner. Firstly, her intuitive nature allows her to understand Amélie’s cues and intentions, forging a harmonious bond between horse and rider. With each passing show, their chemistry grew stronger, leaving no doubt that they were destined for greatness together.

One cherished memory that stands out in Amélie’s mind encapsulates the entire year’s experience. It unfolded during an unexpected twist when Amélie found herself quarantined for a week due to COVID-19. Coincidentally, it coincided with the prestigious 2021 Pony Finals week. Amélie, captivated by the events on her screen, found a new aspiration taking root in her heart—to participate in Pony Finals, despite being unfamiliar with the pony world.

Josie played an instrumental role in bringing Amélie’s newfound dream to fruition. In the fall, she received her permanent pony card, officially solidifying their partnership. It wasn’t long before they qualified for the Large Greens division, setting their sights on the ultimate equestrian destination, Kentucky, for the highly anticipated Pony Finals in August.

Josie’s remarkable journey extends beyond her showmanship. She embodies the qualities that epitomize a dream horse—unwavering loyalty, graceful movements, and an indomitable spirit. Beyond the show ring, Josie has become an inseparable part of Amélie’s life, bringing joy, companionship, and valuable life lessons. Their bond has transformed from a simple lease agreement to an unbreakable connection between kindred spirits.
