SANTA ANA LUX Z | 15 YEAR OLD ZANGERSHEIDE GELDING | AUSTIN, TX

Lux, Santa Ana Lux Z, is a Zangersheide Gelding. His sire is Lux Z who is by Lord Calando. Lux lives and trains at Switch Willo Stables in Austin, TX.

Lux is a beautiful bay horse with a distinctive white star on his forehead, a small snip on his nose, and three white socks on his legs. Despite his small stature, standing at only 15.3 hands, he possesses an impressive amount of energy and power, making him the small but mighty type.

Lux’s passion and dedication for jumping are evident in his performance. He always gives his all, putting in 110% effort every time he approaches a jump. His impressive jumping ability is thanks to the natural springs in his legs, which give him the power and lift needed to clear even the tallest obstacles.

Lauren, Lux’s owner, stumbled upon her beloved horse in an unexpected way. Though she wasn’t actively searching for a new horse, she began riding Lux at Chester Riding Club in New Jersey, where she lived at the time. It didn’t take long for her to realize that she had found something special in Lux. The timing was perfect, as Lux was in search of a new job since his previous rider had gone off to college. Lauren’s love for Lux was so strong that she ultimately decided to make him a part of her life, purchasing him a year and a half ago. It was a serendipitous moment that led to a beautiful partnership between the duo.

Lux is no ordinary horse, as his impressive accomplishments can attest. As a seven-year-old, he won the Young Jumper Championships in Kentucky, showcasing his incredible talent and potential at a young age. Since then, Lux has continued to excel in the sport of show jumping, earning multiple Grand Prix wins under his belt.

Lauren’s love for horses began when she was just 12 years old, sparking a lifelong passion for riding. Her passion for horses extended beyond just riding, as she centered her career around them as well. Lauren is currently working in equine pharmaceuticals at Dechra Veterinary Products, where she can combine her love for horses with her professional expertise. Her dedication to the equestrian world is clear, both in her career and in her personal life. Riding horses has become an integral part of who she is, and it’s evident that Lauren’s connection to these majestic animals runs deep.

Lauren has countless memories with Lux, but one, in particular, stands out as her favorite. What makes Lux so special to her is his expressive and kind nature, which is evident both in and out of the show ring. Lauren cherishes the moments when she discovers that Lux has made friends with people she doesn’t even know. He is a barn favorite, loved by all for his cuddles and love of treats. But what really makes Lauren smile is Lux’s signature begging pose, where he holds one front leg up in the air to convince anyone that he hasn’t been fed in days. Despite his attempts at looking pitiful, his belly tells a different story. For Lauren, these simple moments of connection with Lux are what make their partnership so special and memorable.
