Nova, Peridise Heiress, is a Saddlebred Mare. Her sire is Mountainview’s Heir To Fortune who is by Peridise Danse. She was bred by Michael Beasom. Nova lives and trains at Bluebonnet Farm in Bellville, TX with Sandra Currier.
Nova, the charming horse, has a striking bay coat with a small star and one sock. Her owner Sophie lovingly describes her as a “girly girl,” earning her the nickname “the Queen” from Sophie’s mother. If Nova were a human, she would possess the traits of a pre-teen girl who is very particular and always insists on having things her way. Her affection for having a window is undeniable, and she takes a keen interest in everything happening around her. If she cannot stick her head out of her stall to keep up with the goings-on, she becomes quite agitated.
After testing multiple horses, Sophie was captivated by Nova’s allure, despite her encounter with many impressive horses both before and after her first ride on Nova. Sophie fondly remembers her non-equestrian father whispering, “That horse is absolutely stunning,” when they first laid eyes on her.
Nova has a particular taste for Sour Gummy Worms and Nerds Clusters. Astonishingly, she despises peppermints, and whenever offered one, she promptly spits it out.
The accomplished horse attained the title of regional and state high point champion during the 2022 season in Junior Exhibitor Show Pleasure.
Sophie’s lifelong exposure to horses began with her first-ever horse show at Pin Oak, where she competed in leadline at only 4 years old. Although not seriously competing at first, Sophie values the unique relationship between horse and rider and cherishes the knowledge each horse imparts. Sophie appreciates riding all horses, including schoolmasters, as they all teach something unique.
Sophie’s favorite memory with Nova goes back to when she was leasing her Grandfather’s ex-driving horse. Although he taught her much about horsemanship, they just never clicked. However, one early December night at a show in Bryan, TX, Sophie noticed her entire barn acting strangely towards her. Nobody would let her near their stalls, and her friends from other barns were urging her to stay away from the stalls. Later that night, as they all headed back towards their barn area to say goodnight to their horses, Sophie’s trainer appeared with a beautiful bay mare donning a blue tulle bow. It was Nova! Although Sophie knew she was coming, the surprise made it a million times better. This moment was not only special because of the surprise, but it also marked the start of an amazing partnership between Sophie and Nova.

Portraits for Charity was an idea Karinda dreamt up to help give back to families impacted by Childhood Cancer in memory of her husband’s sister Jessica. During the 2023 Pin Oak Charity Horse Show Karinda photographed around 150 Horses and Dogs and was able to donate just under $15,000 to Candlelighter’s Houston.
