Ajax the Mini Australian Shepherd | Blue Merle Mini Australian Shepherd

Meet Ajax, a 3-year-old Mini Australian Shepherd owned and oh-so-adored by Isa Lippman. Ajax lives at the Lippman home in Austin, TX. This striking young Aussie has a mottled coat with silver-colored speckles, as well as patches of dark grey, black, and white. This type is most commonly referred to as a Blue Merle Australian Shepherd.

Isa actually got Ajax when she was with her family in Telluride a while back. She shares that her first memories with Ajax were spending time together in the mountains – doesn’t get much better than that!

While traveling as a family they all share so many incredible memories with this sweet boy. Isa says they all share a common favorite memory which was bonding with the sweet boy during walks and hikes in the Colorado mountains. Ajax loves Colorado since it’s the perfect weather for his fluffy coat. They used to take their old dog Percy on hikes in Telluride before he passed, so she shares how meaningful and fun it is now to have Ajax to take with them.

Isa says that Ajax’s favorite thing about hiking is keeping the family close together! Australian Shepherds are said to be “the cowboy’s herding dog of choice”. Aussies exhibit an irresistible impulse to herd, anything: birds, dogs, kids…it’s in their blood. Given this, it isn’t surprising that Ajax likes to herd his family, although extremely cute! He will spend the whole hike running back and forth from the person in the front to the person in the back keeping everyone together.
