Good Intentions, “Belle”, is a 9-year-old Holsteiner bay mare. Belle is from Stal Wilton’s barn in the Netherlands but was bred elsewhere. Belle’s dad was known to be a very competitive FEI horse who jumped on the German Team. Belle lives in Austin, TX at Monarch Stables where she and her loving owner and rider, Avery Reid, trains with Kalli Smith and Amy Gangstad.
Avery was in the market for a new horse since she was outgrowing her pony. They decided to start the hunt while in Flordia. After an extremely long day of trying horses, Avery shared that she remembered thinking how exhausted she was and not wanting to try one more horse that day. But, Avery had one more horse to try, and little did she know, it was going to be the last. “As soon as I walked into the next barn I saw the most beautiful horse I had ever seen. She was so elegant and she just had a lady-like presence about her. As soon as they said that I was trying her I couldn’t have been happier. I remember thinking that she was the one that I wanted to take home!” I think to say that it was love, at first sight, would be an understatement.
Avery shares that Belle is a very protective and loving mare who also loves kids. “We went to Florida for a show and there were some foals that were in a field. One day they were running and playing and all the other horses were scared but Belle just wanted to play with them, she was so excited she was jumping up and down trying to play with them.” Avery shares that she thinks she’d make a wonderful mom someday. She is very loving and loyal. “She always protects me when I’m riding even on the ground from dogs and birds. She likes to beg by lifting her leg and holding it there while tucking her head in.”
Belle loves apples and Snaks Fith Avenchew horse treats.
Avery has been riding since the age of 2. Her grandparents had a farm and she fell in love with it as soon as she was able to start playing with the horses. Once she started riding and was able to jump, she never looked back. Avery shares one of her favorite things about owning horses is getting to know and connect with each horse differently. She loves being able to learn their fun quicks and personalities.
