I-Coolio, “Coolio”, is a 7-year-old Westphalian bay gelding. This dashing young guy resides at the beautiful Olde Oaks Farm owned by Vicki Hunton in Thompsons, TX. Coolio is owned and much adored by Vicki.
Vicki bought him right before the summer of 2021. “When I went to go try him they didn’t have a girth small enough. He hadn’t been ridden in god knows how long. It took over 30 minutes to get on him because he was so skittish,” shared Vicki. If you know Vicki, you know she’s been in the game for a long time. Therefore, when someone like her decides to go off instincts and trust what she knows and what she sees in a horse, it’s probably best to let the pros do their thing! After she was finally on and riding him around, she shared that he was bottled up when they cantered and her saddle was slipping to the side, she couldn’t get a good sense of how he went…sounds like a challenge most of us would’ve walked away from. Nope, not Vicki! She decided to go all in! Some might think is a daring move, but those of you who do, don’t know her. She decides that once they have a strong bond built that Coolio will give her his all and that was the feeling she was betting on!
Fast forward to the present day, Coolio is a “perfect gentleman!! The absolute sweetest puppy dog of a stud.” says Vicki. Although he can still be a bit nervous and sensitive, he is still learning and has come such an incredibly long way.
Coolio may be nervous when it comes to new things in the ring, but treats…oh no! He will try ANYTHING and loves everything!
