Meet MTM Goodnight Moon, a 20-year-old Welsh Pony who is also known as “MoonPie”. He gets his nickname from the half-moon-shaped star on his forehead. MoonPie is a dark bay gelding owned and ridden by Sabrina Miller. MoonPie’s sire is Rollingwoods Easy As L.
Sabrina’s favorite memory of MoonPie was when she was trying him. “He wasn’t responding to my leg and my trainer recommended I use my crop. As soon as I did, he bucked, but playfully, and I knew he had a great personality. I loved him so much from that minute on.”
Sabrina found Moon while pony shopping with other riders from her barn in Flordia. She shares, “MoonPie was the first pony I tried and I really loved riding him. We just clicked. We have similar personalities, so we get along very well. I have owned him for about a month now, and he is already an amazing pony.”
Moon has a unique moon-shaped star on his forehead that stands out which Sabrina adores. Moon loves jumping and putting on his game face in the show ring. He flicks his tail to show how happy he is, and his ears are always forward while jumping.
Moon’s treats of choice are donut holes and gourmet horse treats. They are his go-to after a good ride. Sabrina shares that whenever she walks up to him he tilts his head sideways begging for more cookies.
“I started riding around three years ago and I fell in love with everything about it. I leased a horse named Annie about two years in. We then bought a horse named Chanel but ended up being too green for me, so she is being trained in the meantime for when I’m ready for a large pony. Now I have Moon, my medium pony. I am so lucky to own an amazing pony like Moon.”
