Yuengling “Gin” is a handsome 11-year-old Dutch Warm Blood bay gelding with two white socks on his back feet. Gin lives at Oakside Farm in College Station, TX, which is also where the pair trains with Leah Curtis. Gin is owned and loved by Caitlyn Gidley.
Caitlyn shares her favorite memory with Gin was when the pair won both the jump seat medal and the Maclay which qualified them for the finals on the same day! Such a huge accomplishment for both of them together. It was Caitlyn’s first time doing the jump seat medal which made the win so much more meaningful. It was described by Caitlyn as an extraordinary day which she was grateful for.
Caitlyn has owned Gin for about a year and a half now. Her trainer, Leah, found him for her while they were showing in North Carolina. At the time she said she wasn’t actively looking for a new horse, but she happened to fall in love with Gin and is so incredibly happy that all worked out the way it did.
Caitlyn shares that Gin’s personality is super goofy and extra outgoing. He is always getting into trouble and loves to see what everyone is doing at all times. One of Gin’s most unique character traits is knowing exactly how to beg for treats. If you stand in front of him with a treat he gets so excited and will lift his leg up and beg, just like a dog!
Gin’s treat of choice is peppermints!
Caitlyn started riding at age 5 and has never looked back. She loves spending time with horses because they always cheer her up.
