Oh, Harlow. How can I even begin to write a blog that is as perfect as you are? Harlow is a bit of a celebrity in Houston. She has quite the following on Instagram and even gets asked to make appearances at events.
You can normally find Harlow lounging on her Mom, Lauryn’s, desk at work in the offices at Great Southwest Equestrian Center or playing with her besties at doggie daycare, and causing trouble. When she isn’t with her Mom or at Doggie Daycare she loves to visit her grandma. She also has a strange yet rather adorable obsession with babies. She LOVES them. Lauryn had always told me how much she loved babies, and I didn’t quite realize until I brought Kai, my 9-month-old little boy, by to visit and she immediately attacked him with all of the kisses in the world, and then just sat there on the ground next to him like he was her new best friend.
Although Harlow is a horse show dog, she doesn’t really love dirt and prefers to run outside as quickly as possible and avoid stepping on dirt at all costs, which can be a little tricky when you spend a lot of your time at horse shows.
What I am really trying to say, is that Harlow is pretty much like a real-life child in a dog’s body. One of my favorite quirks about Harlow is her little underbite that she has developed recently, I knew that when I was taking her portraits I had to capture those little teeth poking out. Oh and I can’t forget those eyebrows, her brow game is strong.

Portraits for Charity was an idea Karinda dreamt up to help give back to families impacted by Childhood Cancer in memory of her husband’s sister Jessica. During the 2021 Pin Oak Charity Horse Show Karinda photographed around 140 Horses, Dogs, and even Goats, and was able to donate $10,000 to Candlelighter’s Houston. These are the stories of the Horses, Dogs, and Goats that were photographed at the show, these stories complement a photographic book that Karinda is printing and donating to Texas Children’s Hospital featuring Portraits of each and every animal she photographed.
