White Background Portraits | Austin, TX Equine Photographer | Hacienda Con Vista | Affogato Z “Bangs”

Affogato Z, is owned by Valerie and his friends call him “Bangs.” Bangs is a 10-year-old Zangersheide. The pair trains with Debbie Seymour, at Hacienda Con Vista in Dripping Springs, TX.

Bangs is a beautiful buckskin pinto with a black mane and tail. He was bred by Hans Dings in the Netherlands. He is by Cream On Top and out of Duo Penotti. Valerie bought Bangs from a video about four years ago. The day he arrived in TX, the entire barn couldn’t take their eyes off of him. He got his name because the previous owner had cut his forelock straight across giving him bangs. Everyone who met him said, “look at those bangs!”

Bangs came to us with broken withers, they are not sure how it happened but it has definitely impacted how he sees the world. He is not easy to trust but when he does he will do anything for you. His beautiful color sets him apart wherever they are. Little girls all over the country follow Valerie on Instagram because of him.

One of Valerie’s favorite memories is when she finally convinced her trainer at the time that he should be a hunter, not a jumper. We worked with him for a few weeks to prepare for his hunter debut. He ended up Champion in the 3ft Green Hunters at his first show. I remember people coming up to me and asking where he came from, he never really got noticed as a jumper but as a hunter people took notice.

Valerie rode as a child and got her first horse, a 3yr old OTTB, who was 15. She worked hard training him and they won many junior hunter and equitation classes. She was lucky enough to take her horse to college but sold him when she was a junior in college. She didn’t start riding again for 30+ years when she retired. Her husband suggested that she take a riding lesson and she realized how much she missed being in the saddle.
