Rise Above “Santa” | Selle Francais | Eighteenth Acres Farm

Rise Above is a gorgeous Chestnut Selle Frances. He is actually known as Santa at the barn.

Santa is owned by Amy, and the pair rides with Amy’s sister Mindy at her Eighteen Acres Farm in Tulsa, OK. Amy shares that when she was shopping for a horse, she thought it was funny that she fell in love with a horse named Santa because she is Jewish. Now she finally has a little bit of Christmas in her life. Amy and Santa now compete in the Adult Hunters together.

Santa is a total goofball. He can be cranky at times, but he is normally a total snuggle bug. He loves to cuddle and is always there to give a big hug when you need it. Amy found him on a trip to Wellington, Florida when she went to look for a horse. The pair has been incredibly successful in the show ring and they have won at both Pin Oak and WEC this year.

At the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show, you will hear about two different divisions, the Hunters & the Jumpers. The Hunters are judged based on how the horse moves and jumps, and their willingness to go over the jumps – these horses tend to be the pretty and elegant horses at the horse show. The Jumpers are judged based on how fast and accurately they jump all of the jumps.

Amy started riding when she was just five years old. Her older sister, Mindy, who is now her trainer was taking lessons and her mom let Amy start taking lessons as well. She figured since she was dragging Amy to the barn for her sister, she might as well let her start riding horses as well.
