Melody | White Background Portraits | Woodhill Farm | Dallas, TX

Melody is a 15-year-old Anglo-European Sporthorse that lives in Dallas, TX at Woodhill Farm. Melody is owned and loved by Beth. This dynamic duo trains with Matt Cyphert.

Melody is a stunning bay mare with a long white blaze down her face and two back white socks. Melody’s dam is Cheers Cassini (AES) and her sire is Lynn (KWPN) and was bred by Strangeway Farms in the United Kingdom.

Beth had owned another horse named Catapult and he was determined to live up to his name -continuously bucking with her, so Beth decided it was time for a new horse. This is where Melody came into play and Beth shared with us that the first time she tried Melody she actually didn’t really like her all that much. However, Matt Cyphert, her trainer convinced her that Melody had such potential and was going to be an incredible horse. He turned out to be right!

Melody was meant to be a confidence builder and to get Beth to the 1.20M (which is about 3.9ft). Melody had different plans! She ended taking Beth to her first Grand Prix! Beth’s favorite memory is competing for the first time ever at indoors. (If you aren’t familiar, indoors is a huge horse show that takes place in Washington D.C. – it is a qualifying show where equestrians travel from all over the US to compete.) Beth actually missed the first day of competition due to a business meeting in California and took a red-eye to get to DC for the second day of the division. The pair won their first low jr/ao class at WIHS. They were the only double clean combination in the highs and the low jr/ao. They went on to place third in their second class and ended up reserve champion.

Beth describes Melody as a “beast.” She is a quirky girl who is very loyal and only lets a select few ride her. She is happiest as a showhorse and loves to jump and go fast. She is a true competitor and has 66 wins, 120 top 3 placings in 239 starts, and over $44,000 in price money. To say that Melody was everything Beth needed and never what she had expected would be an understatement. Beth has very recently decided to give Melody the incredible retirement that she oh-sooo deserves!

Did you know that horses have almost 360 degrees of vision? Meaning they can see in front and behind themselves. Since they are prey animals this was important to keep them safe in the wild. They also have great night vision!
