Esoteric Furiosa is an 8-year-old Holsteiner that lives in Austin, TX, and goes by “Lettie”. She is owned and loved by Bethany. The pair train with Kersten Levine at Esoteric Farm.
Lettie is a stunning chestnut mare with kind eyes and a bright white blaze down the front of her face. She is by Lotus T and out of Beautiful Najan. This sweet girl was completely unbroken for the first 6 years of her life. Most horses are trained to have a saddle and rider on their back by the time they’re 2 or 3, so 6 is on the older side. It would be like teaching a 25-year-old woman how to ride a bike for the first time ever.
However, Lettie has proven to be incredibly brave and trusted Bethany throughout the entire training process. In two years she has become a calm, sweet show horse. Quite the accomplishment, especially with the reputation chestnut mares have! They are known to be a bit more on the sassy side. One of the things Bethany loves about Lettie most is how adaptable and sweet she is.
Lettie loves having her person and for her, that person is Bethany. Horses are just like big dogs or people even – they love just as we love and need just as we need. Bethany is a full-time groom and has two horses, Lettie, and her gelding. She loves taking quirky sensitive horses and developing them into confident happy citizens. She’s always loved horses but didn’t start riding or working with them till she was about 30.
Did you know horses can live up to 35 years? Some horses live past 40 years.

Portraits for Charity was an idea Karinda dreamt up to help give back to families impacted by Childhood Cancer in memory of her husband’s sister Jessica. During the 2021 Pin Oak Charity Horse Show Karinda photographed around 140 Horses, Dogs, and even Goats, and was able to donate $10,000 to Candlelighter’s Houston. These are the stories of the Horses, Dogs, and Goats that were photographed at the show, these stories complement a photographic book that Karinda is printing and donating to Texas Children’s Hospital featuring Portraits of each and every animal she photographed.
