Ziggy Stardust, is owned by Valerie and his friends call him “Ziggy.” Sven is a 12-year-old Oldenburg. The pair trains at Hacienda Con Vista in Austin, TX.
Ziggy is a striking bay with two white socks. He is by Askeri and out of Hera. Ziggy is a joker and loves to play tricks on his friends in the field. He will use his long neck to poke at them and then easily escape retaliation. This is particularly true for his brother Bangs. He also likes to zip and unzip Valerie’s coats.
Valerie found him on an online ad and saw him win High-Performance Working Hunter at the PA National Horse Show. He loves carrots and Honeycrisp apples. His showing career has already seen some incredible successes including 2019 High-Performance Horse of the Year Zone 7, ranked 16th Nationally at the 2018 PA National Horse Show Champion in High-Performance Working Hunter.
Valerie rode as a child and got her first horse, a 3yr old OTTB, who was 15. She worked hard training him and they won many junior hunter and equitation classes. She was lucky enough to take her horse to college but sold him when she was a junior in college. She didn’t start riding again for 30+ years when she retired. Her husband suggested that she take a riding lesson and she realized how much she missed being in the saddle.
Karinda K. is a Houston, TX based equine photographer that travels around the United States photographing equestrians and their horses. Karinda specializes in Outdoor Horse & Rider Portrait sessions that bring to life the magical relationship equestrians share with their horses, Senior Portraits, and Fine Art Black & White Background Portraits for those that want a piece of art featuring their very own animals. Portraits for Charity was an idea Karinda dreamt up to help give back to families impacted by Childhood Cancer in memory of her husband’s sister Jessica. During the 2021 Pin Oak Charity Horse Show Karinda photographed around 140 Horses, Dogs, and even Goats, and was able to donate $10,000 to Candlelighter’s Houston. These are the stories of the Horses, Dogs, and Goats that were photographed at the show, these stories complement a photographic book that Karinda is printing and donating to Texas Children’s Hospital featuring Portraits of each and every animal she photographed.
