365 Days of Horses | Ocean Park | USEF Horse of the Year 2005

OCEAN PARK | 24 YEAR OLD SWEDISH WARMBLOOD GELDING | MAGNOLIA,TX

Parker, Ocean Park, is a 24 year old Swedish Warmblood Gelding. He was originally bred for dressage, but purchased by Jimmy Torano as a Hunter prospect when he was 10. He was imported to Florida. Jimmy sent Peter, Lynn’s trainer, a video and Lynn bought him.

Parker lives with his owner Lynn, at her farm, Park Place Farm, in Magnolia,TX. The pair trains with Peter Pletcher of PJP Farm. Parker has a ton of personality and truly loves his job. Lynn showed him at all of the major shows in the US including California, New York, Washington DC, Maryland, Florida, Colorado, and North Carolina. He was either champion or reserve champion at all the major shows and was USEF Horse of the Year in 2005. Parker was shown by Peter Pletcher in the professional divisions, green, second year green, and regular working hunters. Lynn showed him in the amateur owner division.

Parker is a beautiful mover and spectacular jumper. He was selected to go to the World Cup when the USHJA had the International Derby demonstration. Louise Serio and Rodrigo Pessoa rode him and he was on the winning team.

Parker is truly a once in a lifetime horse. Lynn was offered an incredibly amount of money to sell him, however she knew that there was no way she could because he was so incredibly special. She feels so lucky to still own him and be able to enjoy him. Parker is now retired due to an injury after Lynn showing him in the hunters for about 10 years. Lynn now enjoys riding him on trails, he is a bomb proof trail horse and he really loves getting out and exploring.

Prior to purchasing Parker, Lynn and him “video dated.” Lynn never rode him before purchasing him, and when she first saw him she was not sure what she had done. He had a bad clip job, big European steel shoes, and was just not that pretty. After a couple of weeks, they realized they had a diamond in the rough.

This spectacular horse loves watermelon and bananas.

Growing up, Lynn never owned a horse, however she was a member of the Pony Club in Canada and was exposed to all different types of riding. Lynn purchased her first horse after getting married, and hasn’t looked back. I think it is safe to say that horses have changed Lynn’s life.

Lynn shares her favorite memory with Parker, “I remember when I was at Harrisburg and we had the stake round coming up. Parker always made me feel so confident and I just had a feeling it was going to go well …It did and we won and ended up amateur owner champion.”

Lynn shares that feeding Corn Oil along with consistent grooming is her biggest tip for keeping her horses shiny.
