MOOSE | 9 YEAR OLD QUARTER HORSE | CRAWFORD, TX
Moose is a 9 year old, Bay Roan Quarter Horse that lives at Easy Does It Farms in Crawford, TX.
Kenzie shares, “Moose is such a character! He is a beautiful bay roan who roans out to a gorgeous silver/blue color in the summer! Moose is a short horse, probably 13.3, but I say 14hh to boost his confidence…but, don’t tell him I said that! “
Moose is an all around horse and the pair does endurance racing together. They just finished their first 25-mile ride together and he did amazing. He has a heel horse in the past and they are currently learning to run both barrels and poles together. This not so little (little guy) can fly and he has the smoothest lope according to Kenzie.
Moose is an honest horse and his favorite treats are the dollar hamburgers from McDonald’s because he hates horse treats.
Kenzie grew up riding with her uncle who is an equine vet in Meridian. Kenzie had her own horses now for about three years. She believes that horses are therapeutic since they just will try their heart out for you. She loves owning horses because it makes the hard days, easier. She mentioned a great horse hack too! Use electrical tape to wrap the ends of their hair instead of rubber bands. It won’t break it and it won’t pull their hair!
Kenzie found Moose because her sister’s friend had Moose about 15 minutes away from Kenzie, the first time she met him she cried because he was so cute when he came running over to greet them. The pair has been together for 2 years now.
“My favorite memory of moose is actually the first time we met. That day, I had gone to look at a horse I was super excited about. Well, the horse was crazy and I was extremely sad about it and was giving up hope on finding one. My sister then called her friend and he said sure, come down, he had one we could look at! So when we got there, I saw Moose and wanted to cry! He was SO cute. We went in their pasture and he came straight up to me and put his head over my shoulder like he was hugging me. He then proceeded to follow me around and wiggle his lips on me! I absolutely adored him and I couldn’t leave without him! We’ve been buddies ever since. He tries his heart out for me every day and he’s a horse I will have until the very end!”
