BLUEGRASS SENSATION | 1-YEAR-OLD WELSH COLT | PARIS, KY

Bluegrass Sensation (fondly known as “Splash”) is a yearling Welsh colt by Nistar Blazing Kansas out of Kai-Anne Pepper, and he is a homebred for owner Cindy of Fox Run Farm.

Cindy, who has been featured in our project in the past, is a lifelong horse person who has helped to rescue and retrain lots of ponies in the past 35 years. She also teaches people and has been very involved in the Kentucky Equine Education Program at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Splash is by Cindy’s stallion Kansas, and although he’s still young, his personality is already coming through Splash is very curious, a lover of carrots, and very expressive.

“Our colts live in the same paddock as their father, Kansas,” said Cindy. “Kansas is very social and never aggressive. Most of the colts will try to play with their father and like children, they often do not show Kansas respect.

“Splash, though, is entirely different. He will come up to Kansas and often bow in front of him. Not once or twice, but daily I will observe this behavior. Kansas calmly watches this and the colt feels accepted by him.”

Cindy said Splash has just begun his show career (although he’s not under saddle yet, of course) and “is doing very well.”
