ACE OF HEARTS | 17 YEAR OLD TENISSEE WALKING HORSE GELDING | PECULIAR,MO

Ace, Ace of Hearts, is a 17 year old Tennessee Walking Horse.

Lindsey is Ace’s current owner, Lindsey used to train horses when she lived up north and tragically one of her students passed away in a car accident. After the accident her Mother wasn’t sure what to do with Ace, so Lindsey told her they would do exactly what her daughter would have wanted, to teach Ace to be a jumper, so they did! Ace was phenomenal at it and won everything. Eventually Lindsey moved away, but always kept up with Ace. After being gone for 2 years, Lindsey’s student’s Mom called and asked Lindsey if she would be interested in having Ace. With no hesitation Lindsey said yes! Even with Lindsey being on the road for her husbands job, she knew that she couldn’t pass this up, she found a place for him to live and he was shipped out to her. The pair has now officially been together for 5 years.

Ace is not a very easy ride, because he has lots of energy but with the right training he will do anything you ask of him from jumping to barrel racing and even dressage. He is always game for learning something new.

Ace has the biggest heart, and although he only stands at 14.2 hands high, he thinks he is the fastest and biggest 14.2 hand horse. He is quite the character and looks for an excuse to show off his “lip trick.” Just get a cookie out and he is all smiles. This special guy loves apples.

The pair has won 2 belt buckles at local gaming shows in North Carolina and lots of ribbons in Jumping.

“I have been riding for 25 years, I was always intrigued by horses at a you age, even though no one in my family had a background in horses. I always asked to do the horse activities any time there was a camp and begged to take lessons at around 9. I was fortunate that one of my moms co-workers had a farm nearby and became their addopted kid, helping at the farm leaning everything I could about horses and how to take care of them. My family did not have much money and my parents were going through a divorce, so horses became my escape and safe thing that helped me through hard times, people allowed me to work of rides and help around farms whenever I could.”

Lindsey shares her favorite story about Ace, “When my student was still alive, we were all at a gaming show, and Alex, my student was competing in a goat tying race and Ace got Alex there, then left her in a hurry and Alex had to walk back but still won the race.”

Lindsey shares that patience and kindness are the best tools in training any horse, and I have to agree.
