When you are a lifelong equestrian it is only appropriate that you immediately find your daughter a mini horse so that they can grow up together and be best friends. I can’t even count the number of pregnancy announcements I see from my horse friends that are quickly followed by a post dreaming about their soon to be child’s first pony… well in Desi’s case, she rescued a Mini Horse Mare, and she was blessed with a little surprise, Hank! Hank is a feisty little guy and isn’t afraid of anything at all, he will walk right through you if you let him, and Desi said he is “bad to the bone.”
I was so excited to photograph Avery for her first birthday with her Mini horse, Hank and Hank’s pasture buddy Spirit. I used to primarily photograph Weddings & Newborns so I am no stranger to Cake Smash Sessions, but this was the first with a horse! Oh man, it was a fun one, there was lots of singing and dancing happening by everyone, and we even discovered that Miss Avery hasn’t quite gotten her Momma’s horse bug yet, and her Mini Horse friends were quite terrifying without being in Momma’s arms.
