Kelly, Bastian’s owner, had never planned on owning a stallion. However, this well mannered boy that she stumbled upon after frustration when searching for a stallion to breed her own mare to provide to her that stallions can be complete gentlemen. He loves people and walks Kelly to her truck every morning. He is constantly watching out for his people, his mares, and his foals. Bastian lives naturally in a herd with his mares and foals. Kelly currently rides him, and the pair does dressage. She says that even though he is just under 14.2 hands, he rides like a 17 hand horse. He is steady, safe, and has an impeccable work ethic and has an “all business” face when needed.

Kelly found him online when she wanted to breed her Fjord Mare. He was living in Canada and Kelly was in Texas. The owners at that time did not offer AI, so in order to breed her mare Kelly would have had to haul her over 2,200 miles. This was defiantly an option she considered, but then she heard a rumor he was for sale and made the decision to buy him sight-unseen based on only pictures and video. Kelly went and met him in British Columbia, Canada to meet him and bring him across the US border. It took her three flights, a ton of time waiting on snow to melt so that she could travel all the way up the Canadian Rockies to the farm where Bastian lived. I can’t even imagine how Kelly felt waiting to meet this big gentle giant, and luckily he lived up to every expectation that she had. Kelly say, “he was, and is, the most amazing horse I’ve had the opportunity to meet and I am so lucky he’s mine, and I am his.”

This magical guy loves apples…although he will take people if apples are not available.

This White Dun Norwegian Fjord Stallion received a blue ribbon in the breed evaluation system as well as a score of 83%. This is among the highest in the breed, particularly for a rare color.

After meeting this big guy I can honestly say that he is a giant teddy bear, and if you would have told me he was a gelding that was used as a lesson horse I probably would have believed you because he was so incredibly calm and well mannered. Texas, well actually the United States is lucky to have such an awesome and rare White Dun Norwegian Fjord Stallion living here now thanks to his owner Kelly to took a leap of faith and brought him here. I see a huge future for the Norwegian Fjord breed in Texas with this amazing and talented stallion standing right in the heart of Bandera,TX.
